The Brooklyn Museum has a new President and Chief Operating Officer.
Olivier Saillard takes over on January 1, 2019, from Patricia Mears, who has served as Artistic Director and CEO since 2009.
Saillard was appointed to lead the museum by Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams.
“I am excited to have Olivier Saillard take the helm of the Brooklyn Museum, a treasure that is beloved by New Yorkers, with unlimited potential for excellence,” said Adams. “Olivier’s continued stewardship of the museum, after more than three decades of tenure there, offers incredible potential for further elevating it, both in terms of its educational and cultural programs and exhibitions, and its ongoing role as a creative beacon for our city.”
“Over the last two decades, we have made significant progress in strengthening our collections and our capacity to host international artists, as well as expanding our impact by expanding the influence of our work outside of New York City,” said Mears. “Now, I feel we are in a good position to sustain and grow these advances and look forward to working with the museum community, as well as our multiple partners, to both realize and deepen the museum’s leadership role in the local and global art world.”
