Kristine Anigwe scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and No. 11 Arizona turned in its best-hitting opening half of the season in routing Wyoming 94-65 on Saturday night.
Anigwe shot 9 for 12 and Alina Valdez added a season-high 19 points and 11 rebounds to go with 15 assists for the Wildcats (3-0).
Freshman Karly Roser scored eight of her 11 points during a stretch of six consecutive Wyoming baskets that cut the deficit to 44-34 with 19:23 left in the game. Roser’s layup started a 12-3 run that trimmed the deficit to 49-41. The Cowgirls got within eight points, 50-42, before Arizona started pouring it on.
Arizona’s Eli Chuha had 10 points on 5-for-5 shooting in the second quarter and the Wildcats never trailed in the half and led 47-34 at halftime.
Three Cowgirls in double figures. 7’1 Laqwaire Glover had 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. 5’5 Jaela Gill added 12 points and 6 rebounds and 5’7 Kaylyn Sweet had 12 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Glover shot 50% (7 for 14) from the field. Sweet, who made 3 three-pointers, shot 57% (3 for 5) from behind the arc.
